The Sports Bra Project
The Her Next Play JV Board partnered with The Sports Bra Project on a sports bra collection drive in conjunction with Girls and Women in Sports Day. Lack of access to sports bras is a significant barrier to girls playing sports.
The JV Board set the goal of collecting 80 sports bras to donate to The Sports Bra Project, and worked together to collect donations of sports bras from their community throughout December and January. The girls reached out to businesses and organizations in the Twin Cities, asking for sports bra donations. They also worked with their teams to hold sports bra collection drives at games, and created a social media campaign to drive awareness. With the generous support of the community, the JV board was able to surpass their goal and collected more than 100 sports bras!!
The girls learned a lot through this experience, and were able to flex their leadership skills as they worked through the project, and reached out to the community for support. "I learned how to reach out to people and ask for support, which is sometimes hard," said one JV Board member.
